Pound Cottage is a fantastic get-away-from-it-all retreat. Surrounded by peaceful countryside; walks from your doorstep and a beautiful country garden, this luxury home is ideal for those looking to switch off. And once your batteries are recharged, exploring the Cotswolds and visiting Shakespeare’s Stratford upon Avon is a delight, Warwick Castle and Blenheim Palace, both within 30 minutes drive.

Ground Floor

Underfloor heating throughout.

Entrance into a hallway Downstairs Washroom with wash basin and WC.

The Living Room has a two seater sofa and two armchairs in front of a Morso stove,switch on LPG,be toasty in minutes There is an LCD TV with Freeview a DVD player and ipod dock.

The Kitchen / Diner is a wonderfully large room – great for entertaining or just being part of the group whilst preparing an evening meal. The fully fitted Kitchen includes an Aga (electric), dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and Magimix Nespresso machine. A separate Utility area includes a Miele washing machine and tumble dryer with space for coats and walking boots to be stored after a country stroll.  Access to rear garden via oak stable door.

The vaulted Dining Area is a bright space (Oak frame and glass) with seating for six.


First Floor

Heated by radiators.

The Master Bedroom has a king-sized bed (5’) and bedside tables with reading lamps. The triple wardrobe provides oodles of storage space along with chest of drawers, TV with Freeview and there is a large Ensuite shower room fitted with heated towel rail.

Bedroom Two includes a double bed, bedside tables with reading lamps and a double wardrobe and chest of drawers. The Ensuite has a bath with shower attachment and heated towel rail.

Outside

Accessed from the kitchen, the cottage Garden is an enclosed space perfect for relaxing in on a summer’s afternoon. Outdoor seating and a coal BBQ are available. Garden table and chairs with parasol. Outside drying area with rotary clothesline.

Off street parking is available for up to two cars.

A travel cot, high chair and stair gate can be provided upon request.

One well behaved dog welcomed. Please note an additional £20 charge applies per dog per stay

Location

The picturesque village of Blackwell in the north of the Cotswolds is home to this delightful cottage. It is a charming village affording a peaceful retreat for all and offers fantastic walking country right from your doorstep. The village of Armscote is a 15 minute walk away where you will find the wonderful Fuzzy Duck offering relaxed lunches or more indulgent dinners. Perfect walking distance to work up an appetite.

Culture vultures will be delighted that Shakespeare’s Stratford Upon Avon is only a short drive away. No visit would be complete without taking in a spectacular performance at the RSC but other historical sites also include Anne Hathaway’s cottage, William Shakespeare’s birthplace and the childhood home of Shakespeare’s mother Mary Arden’s Farm.

Guests are spoilt for choice with the wealth of splendid National Trust properties and attractive gardens nearby: Upton House, Snowshill Manor and Lavender Garden, Hidcote Manor, Chedworth Roman Villa, Batsford Arboretum and Broadway Tower, not forgetting Compton Verney with its’ fabulous Art Gallery and spectacular grounds by Capability Brown. Some of the nation’s finest countryside, cosy traditional pubs and charming towns and villages are within easy reach.

Daylesford Organic Farm is a go-to foodie destination well worth a visit. As well as stocking up on local produce to cook up a storm back at the ranch, you can also take up one of the cookery classes, yoga workshops or florist courses on offer. They of course also have a lovely cafe perfect for refuelling after all the activities.

Day trips to historic Warwick, the university city of Oxford and Bath Spa can be made from this lovely country home.
