To celebrate 25 years of being in operation the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway are offering anyone under the age of 25 free travel during March when accompanied by a fare paying passenger. Board at Toddington, Winchcombe or the Cheltenham Racecourse and enjoy a trip down memory lane.
It has been 25 years since the railway, fondly remembered as the Honeybourne Line, ran its first train over the track at Toddington. Since then the track has grown incredibly from a stretch of a few hundred yards to a 10 mile route from Toddington to the Cheltenham Racecourse. ‘And now we’re well on our way relaying track northwards towards Broadway and when we reach there, we will be among the longest heritage railways in the UK’ commented Colin Fewell, volunteer Marketing Manager at the entirely volunteer run railway operation.
Alternate steam and diesel hauled trains operate every weekend throughout March, commencing at 10.30 from Toddington and 11.15 from the Cheltenham Racecourse. For more details click here to visit the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway website.
