Windrush Apartment is set within the elegant stately home of Sherborne House, originally built for John Dutton and owned by Lord Sherbornes until 1981. Set within 10 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with an orangery and rose garden, guests can enjoy the use of a communal BBQ, heated indoor swimming pool, sauna (Small charge), gym and tennis courts. The Church of St Mary Magdalene can also be found within the grounds of Sherborne House, containing many memorials to the Dutton and Sherborne families. The sweeping views across the Windrush Valley and landscaped gardens provide a peaceful setting to get away from it all.
The large oak front door of this second floor apartment opens onto a long hallway, from which you will find the open plan living area, double bedroom and bathroom.
The Open Plan Living Area provides comfortable seating for four, LCD TV with Freeview, DVD player and CD player. A laptop with high-speed internet connection is provided on a desk overlooking the serene courtyard providing an area to catch up with some work or keep in contact with family and friends.
The Kitchen is fully fitted with a cooker, electric hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and washer / dryer. There is also a breakfast bar with seating for two.
Overlooking the courtyard, the Double Bedroom has a 6’ double bed, antique dressing table, chest of drawers and fitted double wardrobe. The 6’ double bed has two single guest beds underneath which can be made up in the living area providing full height beds for a further two people.
The Bathroom has a bath, a shower over the bath, washbasin, WC, heated towel rail and airing cupboard.
Location
This one bedroom apartment is located in the village of Sherborne, just five miles from both Bourton on the Water and Burford. You will find the nearest pub 3.5 miles away, where you can enjoy a pint of Donnington ale and locally caught fish, served by the River Windrush. Sherborne itself is almost entirely owned by the National Trust and as such is very picturesque and unspoilt. The National Trust property Lodge Park and Sherborne Estate run alongside Sherborne House, providing a variety of walks in 4,000 acres of rolling countryside and a unique deer course and park to explore.
Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ can be found five miles down picturesque rural roads. Along with the teashops and gift shops that Bourton offers, you can also visit the Dragonfly Maze, Birdland Park and Gardens and the Cotswolds Motoring Musuem. A short drive in the other direction lies the popular village of Bibury, often regarded as a classic Cotswold village. Here you will find Bibury Trout Farm and Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages built of the local Cotswold Stone next to the River Coln.
Windrush Apartment is well located for exploring the Cotswolds. With The National Trust site Chedworth Roman Villa just 9 miles away you can view the remains of one of the largest Romano - British villas in the country. Sudeley Castle, the previous home of King Henry VIII's wife Queen Katherine Parr, can also be found in the pretty town of Winchcombe a short drive away. Here you can view the historic galleries and contemporary art, explore the magnificent gardens and visit the seasonal events.
